More work on the base.
09th October 2009
I’ve finished the preparation for the base today. I’ve also started
the masking of the Huey. I hope to start airbrushing the Kit next week or so.
I’ve run into more trouble with the Huey. I think I’ve mentioned it before. But the kit is really far from a passable quality. More details here.
News…………………
03rd October 2009
Well what can I say? Things started spinning out of control around me. Family, Work, Concert photography, Project Photography, Race preparation and a lot more resulted in an acute loss of time. Some of the things I do had to be put on hold. Sadly my Huey was one of them. The summer’s nearly gone now, life starts to get back to a more “human” pace, the motivation is finally back.
Last week I cleaned up and rearranged my hobby room, which was long overdue. I noticed that my two Contacta tubes dryed out during my hiatus. So I need to order some new tubes. Version “1.1″ of the room can be seen here…..
. It’s not 100% finished yet, still a bit messy, but you get the picture.
Other than that, I’ve found a very interesting shop not too far from here, just across the border in Germany. They’ve got a really decent choice of Kit Modelling stuff. Here’s the website. Then I’ve seen that Hanke (The shop I use most of the time to order stuff from) finally accepts PayPal. I will have a look at Hannants again since the pound to euro conversion is really interesting for us now.
I’ve included some infomation in the sidebar. I will update it on a regular basis with new books and games.
Huey base started.
28th December 2008
I’ve started with the base for the display of the Huey. It doesn’t look like much yet, but there’s not too much work left with the lower part. It’s going to be build in two parts. The one that you can see here in this picture. And then the Helipad which will rest on the 5 pillars.
Antennas, windshields and more….
23rd December 2008
I think I’ve finished the major sanding job for now. I’ve inserted the main canopy windows, which are not the best fit ever (I really think that I’m cursed on this one). And the I glued some of the antennas and smaller parts in place. Slowly but steadily the Huey is getting ready for painting.
I love Putty, …… not!
21st October 2008
I finally got to work on my Huey again. I thought I could start where I’ve left off the last time I worked on it. But that wasn’t meant to be. It turns out that the filling and sanding that I had done the last time were not sufficient, not even close to what I would like it to be. So basically I’ve applied another layer of putty. The next session will be sanding, …. and sanding, … and sanding…..
I’ve prepared everything to continue on the base. I didn’t take any pictures though. The progress doesn’t show much. During my next session I will be able (at least I hope) to start with the “Ground” of the base. I’ve decided to paint the landing pad, for I was not satisfied with glueing a printout to the wood. More to come, ……
Finally, …. back to work.
16th October 2008
I had some major issues with the webpage the last few weeks. If you read this then take a pen and take a note of what’s to follow: Take backups !!!!!
Ok, did some work on the Huey, no pictures though. I prepared the base. The structure’s there. Just need to paint it and add the wanted/expected textures. I will post some pics tonight or tomorrow.
Update
13th June 2008

It’s been a very long time sinc I’ve had time to work on my Huey. But today I spend 2 hours on it. It took some time to get back into it. I put the fuselage parts together and worked a bit on the base. No pictures though, as they wouldn’t show anything interesting. The next stage should be different though.
I’ve done some work on the Huey
04th January 2008
The main interior parts are done. I don’t like the decals for the panels at all. But the won’t be visible once the model is finished. I’ve added Photo-Etched belts to the seats though. More details here.

Huey: Cockpit Seat
01st January 2008
First of all: Happy New Year.
I did some airbrushing to the main cockpit parts. I used Black Glaze. With the correct amount of dry brushing/weathering it should result in the correct collor. I’ve researched quite a bit on the colors used for the Hueys. It seems as if there wasn’t a guideline as for how to paint them. For the inside at least.
